This Sunday was third consecutive weekend where Azalina’s Malaysian food was served at Wise Sons Delicatessen on 24th Street in Mission, San Francisco. If you haven't been there yet you definitely have to try this place. It is great Jewish deli with home made pastrami and corned beef sandwitches...yummy. The last couple of Sundays evenings however Azalina has been a guest chef there.
My husband and I were lucky to get in and be seated just after twenty minutes of waiting. Line outside was enormously long but everybody was so excited to try Azalina's famous food that no one seemed to mind waiting.
I was impressed when food appeared pretty fast on our table, considering the amount of orders that they dealt with. Tasting one dish after another just has awakened up our desire to explore Malaysian food even more.
As a main course we ordered Handpulled Mee Rebus and Char Koay Teow. Both main dishes screamed – original! Mixed flavors and combined spices served on one plate together created unforgettable experience.
For the dessert we have tried amazing Durian Ice Cream. It was just mouthwatering experience with such unbelievable complexity of flavors that it still brings a tingling sensation to my tongue when I think about it.
After the dinner I had a chance to say hi to Azalina and snap a few shots while she was commanding the "chaos" in kitchen. She is such a warm person with her big disarming smile.
We loved the food. I hope you like photos.
